The second season, based on Dragonfly in Amber, premiered on April 9, 2016. A third and fourth season has been commissioned, which adapt the third and fourth Outlander novels, Voyager and Drums of Autumn. The thirteen-episode third season premiered on September 10, 2017, and concluded on December 10, 2017.
Filming locally has been on the Ardeverikie Estate for many of the open country shots and locally in series one the Highland Folk Museum was used as the village. It has a series of Blackhouses that are of the period and made into a village setting.
At the Folk Museum they have an Outlander Day each year with staff dressing up and others encouraged to do the same. They recreate some of the scenes from the show. It is not the same day as World Outlander Day but well worth having two day to celebrate the show. Worth checking out their facebook page for more detsils.
