At the Rumblie we have our own selection of over 50 whiskies from around Scotland to try. Simon is happy to take you through a tasting. Simon has been trained at the Scotch Whisky Training Centre and was a tour guide at a local distillery. We can offer very detailed advice on which distilleries to visit as we have been to most of them ourselves. Some of the local ones are listed below but you can easily visit many of the Speyside Distilleries from our Guest House.

Dalwhinnie Distillery (7 miles away)

Just a 10 minute drive from The Rumblie on the A889, visit the highest distillery in the land at 1,073 feet and discover the secrets of this unique Highland Malt when you tour the distillery. Open all year – times vary. Tel 01540 672219 or www.discovering-distilleries.com

Blair Athol Distillery (35 miles away in Pitlochry)

A 45 minute drive south on the A9 to the beautiful town of Pitlochry and the Blair Athol Distillery. Using the crystal clear waters of Allt Dow –the burn of the otter- discover the distinctive character of this malt whisky as you sip your complementary dram. Edradour Distillery (38 miles away)

The smallest (legal) distillery in Scotland and one of the most picturesque, offering free guided tours and a dram of their single malt. Open daily but times vary. Tel 01796 472095 or www.edradour.co.uk

Ben Nevis Distillery (41 miles away in Fort William)

On the A82 towards Fort William. Open all year with a visitor center and coffee shop, and the story of Hector McDram. Tel 01397 700200 or www.bennevisdistillery.com

Tomatin Distillery (51 miles away)

On the A9 south of Inverness at Tomatin you can take a free tour and gain an unique insight into this distillery’s traditional working methods. Open all year – times vary. Tel 01808 511444 or www.tomatin.co.uk

Dewers World of Whisky (52 miles away near Aberfeldy)

This is a great place to visit as it has a wonderful museum as part of the tour. The site produces both single malt whisky and blended whisky both of which are explained in the tour. 2015 Whisky Events

Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival 30th April – 4th May 2015

Held annually during the first long weekend in May, the Festival invites visitors to celebrate Scotland’s national drink through an inventive and wide-ranging programme of whisky-inspired events – some educational, all of them fun. World Whisky Day  16th May 2015
